Top Events for 2008

• Taste of Newnan
  April 19, 2008
  Come and sample our delicious fried oreos!  These tasty morsels are always a hit with the crowd.  From 4 pm at the Court House Square in beautiful downtown Newnan.  Proceeds support Coweta Youth.
• CORRAL
  
  
  This wonderful program is a horse riding program for mentally and physically challenged children in the Coweta area.  We do a cookout for them each spring and fall.  What a fun way to serve youth!  Visit CORRAL virtually!  Click this linkhttp://home.earthlink.net/~mpcorral/history.html
• Avenue of Flags
  Have Old Glory placed at your home or business every patriotic holiday by the Optimist Club.  Only $35 per year.  Proceeds support Coweta Youth.
• Scholarship
  Every May a deserving high school Senior is awarded a scholarship.
• Law Appreciation
  At some time during the year the Optimist Club honors our Heroes in Blue in a unique way.

• Youth Appreciation
  In the Winter, the Optimist Club holds a banquet to recognize some outstanding youth in our community.  We strive to discover the students who go the extra mile: perhaps the student who has overcome physical difficulty or financial hardship in the family.  If not for the Optimist Club some very deserving youth would go unrecognized.
  
• Essay and Oratorical Contests
  In early spring Elementary and Middle School Students compete to become the masters of pen and tongue.  Every one of these children are winners, believe it!  Medals go to the first three places and the first place winners go on to Area, State, Region, and National Optimist contests where some serious prizes can be won.
• The Rutledge Center
  We visit with developmentally challenged adults at the Rutledge Center in Newnan and provide fun, crafts, and entertainment.  We have two clowns in our club!  OK, maybe more than two - but two are professional, registered and bona fide!
• Childhood Cancer Campaign
  Optimist International is a huge supporter of the campaign against childhood cancer.  Newnan Optimist Club is thoroughly committed to helping eradicate childhood cancer.  To donate to the campaign,  drop a check in one of our collection boxes located around town, such as the one at the Newnan Antique Mall on Hwy 16.
